There is so much to do and see in our local area - you could come for a week and still have plenty more you would like to do! 

I've put some links below for accommodation in the area if you are staying for a night or two, and there are also some great holiday cottages in the Dales offering beautiful accommodation for a long weekend, a week or longer.

I've also added a few of my favourite shops!

HAWES - the jewel in the crown at the top of Wensleydale!

There is an abundance of accommodation to be found in this beautiful Market Town from hotels and B&B's to the Youth Hostel & camp sites or gorgeous glamping in yurts, pods & chalets. There's something for every taste and budget. The town is bursting with independent shops & cafes as well as being home to the famous Wensleydale Creamery and the Outhwaites Ropemakers. The House at Hawes - a fabulous, boutique B&B with a difference - run by Fiona & Tim, you will love it! 

Loxley House - a beautiful spacious B&B in a tranquil location right in the heart of Hawes

Simonstone Hall - a large country house just over a mile from Hawes with the most spectacular views! 

The White Hart Country Inn - a really good pub with log fire, great food and spacious comfortable rooms.

The Fountain Hotel - a good sized friendly pub in the middle of Hawes.

Crosby House - a beautiful B&B with a friendly welcome from the lovely ClaudiaStone House Hotel - a lovely country house hotel just a mile out of Hawes, renowned for good food

Cherish Glamping - so gorgeous! All the luxury but no crowds - simply beautiful! 

Thorney Mire B&B and Shepherd's Hut - all you'll hear is bird song in the beautiful place a couple of miles outside Hawes

ASKRIGG - only 5 miles from Hawes and well worth the short drive - I'm a bit biased because I live there!

A picturesque village made famous by the James Herriot "All Creatures Great & Small" series. With three good pubs (The Crown Inn The Kings Arms and The White Rose Hotel), a well stocked village shop (Sykes House) and beautiful deli/coffee shop called The Bake-Well

The Hut in the Woods - a bijoux gorgeous Shepherd's Hut for pure escapism! 

Sykes House - be sure of a warm welcome from Alison & Mike

Thornsgill B&B - A delightful B&B in this lovely village run by Barry & Ann 

Yorebridge House - pure luxury - a stunning boutique hotel just 4 miles from Hawes

Favourite Shops

Bear Cottage Interiors - well obviously! This is the shop in which I am lucky enough to have our kitchens. It has beautiful homewares, quirky gifts & gorgeous cards that you won't find everywhere, as well as the interiors department with sumptuous fabrics & accessories.

The Old School Muker Art & Crafts - my go-to place for presents for special friends. Richard & Polly offer a warm welcome and an ever-changing array of art & crafts, showcasing the areas finest artists. Well worth a visit.

There is a newly opened shop in Askrigg which is run by a group of artisan craft and artists which truly unique and beautiful pieces from local makers - well worth a drop in (no website yet but available on Facebook).

Mulberry Bush, Hawes - a little Aladdin's cave in the middle of Hawes - perfect for last minute gifts! 

Chapel Gallery, Hawes - a contemporary gallery in the heart of Hawes with unique arts & crafts - fabulous! 

Wensleydale Creamery - the home of Wensleydale Cheese just up the road in Hawes. There's a cafe/restaurant and visitor's centre, shop and tasting room. 

Kings Street Kitchen & Gifts - a little gem in the Georgian Market Town of Richmond, around 25 miles away. Quirky gifts and kitchenware.
